Wyoming Bar Exam Format

Wyoming has adopted the Uniform Bar Exam. The Wyoming Bar Exam is a two-day exam. The exam is split into three sections:

  1. The Multistate Bar Exam;
  2. The Multistate Essay Exam; and
  3. The Multistate Performance Test.

On the first day, the examiners give six essay questions and two 90-minute Multistate Performance Test (MPT) exam questions. The second day of the Wyoming Bar Exam consists of the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE). You must also pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE) and participate in a Wyoming-specific educational component. Wyoming Bar Exam Scoring Information

You must score 270 or higher in order to pass the Wyoming bar exam.

Wyoming Bar Exam Essay Information

The Wyoming essay portion of the Wyoming Bar Exam consists of six essay questions. The subject areas from which questions are taken for the essay portion are listed as follows:

  • Business Associations (Agency, Partnerships, Corporations, and LLCs)
  • Federal Civil Procedure
  • Family Law
  • Trusts, Wills and Estates
  • UCC (Secured Transactions and Commercial Paper)
  • Conflict of Laws
  • All MBE Subjects (Civ Pro, Con Law, Contracts, Criminal Law and Procedure, Torts, Property, and Evidence)

Wyoming Bar Exam - MPRE Requirements

In addition to successfully passing the Wyoming bar exam, an applicant must attain a score of 75 on the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam. A prior score will be accepted if taken within previous three years.
